The short version
Islands Mid Office Help takes requests from businesses that want a remote assistant and passes them to a service partner that provides one. The partner handles everything after that: the questions, the scoping, the proposal, the contract and the work itself.
We also publish practical notes on how assistant work is set up, such as how access is shared through a password manager, how instructions get written down and how tasks are checked. Use them however you like, whether or not you send a request.
The first few weeks
Most assistant engagements begin with a handover period. You show the assistant how a task is done today, usually over a screen share, and they write it up as a short checklist you can correct. Access comes through your own systems: a delegated inbox, a user seat in the CRM or a limited role in QuickBooks, with passwords held in a password manager.
Early on, expect to check more of the output and answer more questions. As the checklist settles, the assistant handles routine items alone and brings you only the exceptions.
A few things we do not do
Some visitors assume a site like this hires and manages assistants. It does not. Islands Mid Office Help passes quote requests to a service partner, and that partner supplies the assistants, agrees scope and handles any contract.
We also do not offer legal, tax or HR advice. An assistant can keep your records tidy and prepare documents for sign off, while decisions on taxes, payroll, contracts or hiring stay with you and your professional advisers. If you are weighing outside help against a new hire, the SBA has general guidance on running a small business.
